Tabor Women vs. St. Mary

Cutting a St. Mary?s seven point lead with less than minute to play to 47-44, Tabor fell short Thursday in Hillsboro.

MacKenzie Dick moved Tabor to within four with 37 seconds remaining in the ball game, with a baseline three. St. Mary hit 1-of-2 free throws on the next possession putting 46-41 on the scoreboard with under half-a-minute to play.

Dick fired a three at the other end which was off-the-mark and rebounded by St. Mary. The Spires sunk 1-of-2 from the line again, following a Tabor foul. Tabor had possession down 47-41 with the clock ticking away.

After working for the best shot possible, Vivian Olivera was fouled on a three point attempt. Olivera made all three ensuing charity attempts to round out a 9-for-9 shooting display from the charity stripe. All of Olivera?s nine points came by the way of free throws.

Tabor stole the inbounds pass following the free throw, but was whistled for stepping on the sideline as Molly Dick brought the ball across half-court.

MacKenzie Dick led all scorers with 14 points. Stephanie Silvas scored seven points. Tynan Honn had five, points six rebounds.

No one scored in double figures for St. Mary. The Spires were led by Brittany Gardner and Arta Girffin with nine points.

Tabor finishes the season series with St. Mary 1-1. The Bluejays beat the Spires in Leavenworth 63-58 on Jan.16.

Tabor (6-21, 5-12) is in a three-way tie for the sixth slot of the KCAC with Ottawa and Bethany. St. Mary sits alone in the seventh spot at 4-13, 7-20 overall.

Tabor wraps up the regular season Saturday at Friends.

A late Tabor rally was cut short by a questionable call, as Tabor fell 68-57 on Thursday in Hillsbro

On a fast break down 61-51 with 2:06 to play, a warning was given to St. Mary coach John Bishop that stopped the play on the floor and momentum for the surging Bluejays. Down 60-40 with 6:18 left to play, Tabor moved to within 10 in four minutes? time with an 11-1 run.

Following the warning call, Tabor coach Micah Ratzlaff was given a technical arguing the warning call on the St. Mary bench. St Mary closed the game out as Tabor never came to within single digits.

Other than the late game surge St. Mary controlled hall game. The Spires opened the game 21-7 and carried a 37-23 halftime lead.

Eric Nitsche led all scorers with 17 points. Jeb Greenberg and Brandon Doughterty had 16.

Damon Dechant finished with a double-dounles (11points, 11 rebounds). Cody Arnold had 13 points.

Tabor falls to 7-10 in the KCAC and 10-16 overall. St . Mary improved to 8-9 and 15-12 overall.
