Hillsboro’s Werth signs with College of the Ozarks

Hillsboro senior Elias Werth signed a letter of intent April 24 to play basketball at College of the Ozarks. Seated with him are his parents, Cord and Tesha Werth. Standing behind them are Steve Shepherd (left), men’s head basketball coach at College of the Ozarks, and Darrel Knoll, boys’ head basketball coach at Hillsboro. A first-team All-Central Kansas League player this season, Werth led the Trojans to a 16-6 record overall and third place at 7-3 in the CKL. Per game, he led the Trojans in scoring (16.7), steals (3.7), free-throw accuracy (75.7 percent) and deflections (3.5). He was second on the team in assists (3.6), rebounds (5.1) and blocked shots (17).
