• brayden christopher axelrad, 2 months, 10 days old, died April 20 at Herington Municipal Hospital.

The service will be at 11 a.m. April 27 at St. John Lutheran Church at Tampa. Burial will follow at Tampa Cemetery—formerly Hackler Cemetery—with pastor Clark Davis officiating.

Survivors include his parents, Jason C. and Jennifer A. (Stimson) Axelrad of Tampa; sister Natalie Leanne Axelrad of Tampa; maternal grandparents Rhonda and Gavin Diehl of Burrton, Dean Stimson of Muldrow, Okla.; paternal grandparents Jim and Pam Axelrad of Ft. Smith, Ark., and cousins.

• jeanette mildred bandel, 88, of Alma, for­merly of Wamego and retired as a registered nurse in 1994, died April 21 at Al­ma Manor.

The service will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, April 25, at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church, 17665 Old Post Road, Wamego, with Father Mike Peterson officiating.

Burial will follow at Wa­baunsee Township Cemetery.

She was born Feb. 14, 1928, to Alphonse “AJ” and Barbara Berger Wilhelm at Centralia. On April 12, 1966, she was married to Law­rence “Pete” Bandel, who predeceased her on April 9, 2011.

Survivors include daughters Amy and husband Brent Miller of Alma, Sara and hus­band Frank Morey of Hillsboro and Lea and husband Brent Rempel of Nel­son, Neb.; four grand­­­­- children; siblings Gil­bert and wife Ruth Wilhelm of Platte City, Mo., Mary Glissman of Sabetha, Cecilia and husband Bud Kinder of Topeka, Bernice and husband Robert Julius of Sturgis, S.D., and Laura and David Moran of Mojave, Ariz.

• ferne hiebert, 87, died April 19 at Pine Village in Moundridge.

The service was April 22 at Hillsboro Mennonite Brethren Church and officiated by Garvie Schmidt and pastor Brian Allen.

Burial was Friday at Hillsboro Mennonite Breth­ren Cemetery.

She was born Sept. 8, 1928, to George and Sarah (Goertzen) Kornelsen at Hen­derson, Neb. On Sept. 1 1950, she was married to Clarence Hiebert, who predeceased her in 2005.

Survivors include sons Tim and wife Gina Hiebert of Cheney and Bob and wife Carrie Hiebert of Forest, Ill.; daughters Beth Klassen of Hillsboro and Sue Scheer of Norwood, Ohio; sister Janice and husband Lee Jost of Henderson; 13 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

• duane e. ratzlaff, 66, a farmer of Durham, died April 19 at the Mercy Hospital, Moundridge.

The service was April 23 at the Morning Star Menno­nite Church at Durham. Burial will be at Logan Cemetery.

He was born on July 3, 1949, to Dan and Esther Schmidt Ratzlaff at Goessel. On May 13, 1973, he was married to Louise Wiggers, who survives.

Other survivors include daughter Rayletta Ratzlaff of Durham; son Jeff and wife Monica Ratzlaff of Durham; special family friends Mike and Michelene Rhodes of Durham; three grandchildren; brother Arnold and wife Carol Ratzlaff of Moundridge; sisters Delores and husband Ron Koehn of Galva, and Sherry and husband Steven Smith of Halstead.

• Betty Riffel, 89, of Abilene, died Tuesday, April 19.

Arrangements are pending with Martin-Becker-Carlson Funeral Home, Abilene.
