Conservation awards given to Svitak, Peabody United Methodist Church

Greg Bowers, board chairman, left, presented Damien Svitak the Conservation District Service Award. “The fun part of being on the board is getting to know many of the men and women for conservation,” Bowers said. “We would like to present an award to one of our members who wasn’t able to serve any longer, and to let him know we appreciated his leadership in the past and wish him the best in the future.”

Members of the Peabody United Methodist Church, represented by Randy Windsor and operator Dale Buller, both of Florence, have worked years to apply waterways and terraces to the church property in Summit Township. Almost 11 acres of grassed waterways have been established and 2.4 miles of terraces constructed by the church earning members the Kansas Bankers Association Award for Water Quality.
