A different way to shop for Christmas

Megan Wheeler sits at her booth at the Alternative Gift Market on Saturday, Nov. 9. Donations for her beautiful ornaments went to support Dalit (outcast of India) women the chance to learn a dignified trade and rise out of poverty.

The market offered a meaningful way for Christmas shopping. Customers were able to shop different booths to learn about the causes (both international and local) and see what ornaments were available.

At the end of shopping, the customer checked out with cashiers at the front to give whatever donation they wanted for their selected items. The money went back to the booths to sponsor their causes.
