Hillsboro High School Chess Guild hosted a KSCA Grade Level K-12 chess five-round tournament in the Wiebe Media Center at HHS on Saturday, Jan. 18.

Competitors had the opportunity to play chess with other kids in their grade level and make new friends.

The participants all seemed to enjoy themselves as they competed and visited in between matches.

Our players (4th grade-12 grade) represented HMHS and HES with not only outstanding chess thinking skills, but they each exhibited good sportsmanship in every game they played, which is the most important,” said Librarian Janet Whisenhunt, who was in charge of the event.
