Peabody-Burns Football

The Peabody Burns football team faces a season of rebuilding but they still have a solid group of guys returning.

“Despite losing 10 seniors from a season ago, we do have 5 – 7 guys returning that saw a solid amount of time in 2019. That experience will help us tremendously. Dropping down to Division II this season, we look to be very competitive within our district. We have a solid group of athletes with decent speed so we must learn how to use that to our advantage. Playing together, executing, and playing for each other and not ourselves will be the key to our success this season,” said Head Coach Kody Tegtmeier who is in his third year as head coach but has 11 years of experience.

The solid group of athletes are senior Danny Hammon, juniors, Jake Partridge, Noal Reynolds, Thomas Smith and Philip Young . Seniors Gage Branson and Jasper Talkington and sophomore Jefferson Glover will also play key roles for this team.

In addition to fighting the obstacles that COVID-19 will brings, Tegtmeier sees playing as a team being a possible challenge.

“Learning to play for each other instead of ourselves is our biggest challenge right now. We have to understand how each position is uber important for the success of our team. We will have some guys not in their natural positions due to lack of depth, so getting them to understand why and how to play that position, as well as competing every day is key for us,” said Tegtmeier.

Coming – The Warriors kick-off their season at 7 p.m. on Friday, Sept 4 at home against Little River.
