Centre Girl’s Golf

The Centre High School girl’s golf team finally has enough golfers to place as a team in competitions and third-year head coach Max Venable is excited.

This will be the first year these girls have had an opportunity to earn team medals and they are working hard at practice to accomplish this goal,” said Venable.

The team already has some solid returners in seniors Cecilia Rziha who won regional participant last year and three-year letter-winner and Samantha Engler, regional participant and three-year letter-winner as well as sophomore and one-year letter-winner Jorja Peterson.

The team is adding new golfers sophomore Brooklyn Smith and freshmen Leah Brunner.

Like many teams, the pandemic throws in some challenges.

For me, the uncertainty from COVID-19 day in and day out is our biggest challenge. These girls have been working hard and deserve to play golf as a team. I want our girls to have their opportunities this season but most importantly stay safe,” said Venable.

The team is ready to get out there and play.

Coming – The girls will started their season on Sept 1 in Emporia. They play next at 1 p.m. on Sept. 8 at West Franklin.
