Tabor swims to inaugural meet victory

The Tabor College men?s and women?s swim teams earned victories in Tabor?s inaugural meet Saturday at Osawatomie. The meet was the first in school history for both Tabor and Saint Gregory?s.

?I couldn?t be prouder of the teams,? coach Nathan Duell said. ?They worked hard to get here, and to start the program?s history out with a couple of wins is an ideal start.?

The Bluejay men defeated Saint Gregory?s, 91-56.

?Ben Dorsett was very impressive,? Duell said. ?He had the added pressure of swimming in his hometown in front of a lot of family and friends, and he stepped up big time.?

The women defeated Saint Gregory?s, 117-21.

?I was also very proud of some of our newer swimmers who really stepped up in their first meet,? Duell said. ?Kianna Hinerman and Liz Janssen are two that have been very courageous and given great efforts this season.?

Tabor reached its goal of qualifying all of its relays for nationals, Duell said.

?We still have a lot of work to do and a long way to go to get where we know we can be, but to have early season success like this is certainly exciting,? Duell said.

Coming?Tabor will compete in the Hendrix Relays in Conway, Ark., Oct. 31.
