Tabor men’s soccer falls to Friends

The fifth-seeded Tabor College men?s soccer season came to a close with a 4-3 loss to fourth-seeded Friends Friday in the quarterfinals of the KCAC tournament.

Friends scored in the third minute, but Tabor tied the game with a Bransyn Felty goal assisted by Cole Younger in the 25th minute. The Falcons scored again before the break to take a 2-1 lead into halftime.

Friends scored in the 47th minute to increase its lead to 3-1 and added a goal in the 60th minute for a 4-1 advantage.

Not to be outdone, Tabor battled back with an Agustin Ariza goal assisted by Philipp Wahl in the 71st minute. Five minutes later, Felty scored his second goal to bring the Bluejays within the final, 4-3.

Friends outshot Tabor, 28-9, including 15-7 shots-on-goal. Goalkeeper Tom Gaskell had 10 saves.

With the loss, Tabor concludes the season with an overall record of 6-13.

Bethel?In its final game of the regular season, Tabor defeated Bethel, 4-2, Tuesday.

The Threshers scored the game?s first goal, but Tabor shot back with two goals by Bransyn Felty for a 2-1 halftime lead. Alberto Checa and Philipp Wahl were credited with the assist on Felty?s first goal.

Tabor added two scores less than a minute apart in the second half, courtesy of Agustin Ariza (assist Wahl) and Manuel Miranda-Cortez (assist Ariza). Bethel scored its final goal in the 80th minute.

Both teams took 17 shots, and Bethel held an 11 to 10 advantage in shots-on-goal. Goalkeepers Kevin Bankowski and Tom Gaskell combined for nine saves.

Tabor finished the KCAC regular season in fifth place with a conference record of 5-4, 6-12 overall
