Janae Rempel / Free PressThe combined Marion/Peabody-Burns golf team will be led by Tod Gordon this season, who returns for his third stint—and seventh year overall—as coach.

Max Caldwell, a senior from Peabody-Burns, is the Warriors’ sole returning state qualifier. Competing at the Class 1A state tournament a year ago, Caldwell carded an 18-hole score of 117, tying for 81st place.

Additional returning athletes are Marion seniors Hap Waddell, Rowan Fay and Devin Soyez and sophomore letter-winner Tabor Workman.

Marion senior Ethan Darnall joins the team this season, as do several younger athletes.

Gordon said his primary goal was to increase participation this season. The Warrior roster has grown from six to 12 golfers.

“I am blessed with a great group of students, and this group will be a joy to coach,” Gordon said. “The golfers are enjoying practices, and each day, the golfers have worked hard to improve. Golf is a lifetime sport, and hopefully the golfers can improve to the point of enjoying this great game.”

Coming—The Warriors will kick off the season at Herington Tuesday.
