The Warriors lost five seniors to graduation: Jade Corona, Austin Molleker, Jacob Matz, Adam Kjellin and Matthew Baker. The team will look to returning sophomore Devin Soyez to lead the charge.

Bauer said all 12 roster spots—six varsity, six junior varsity—are open for competition.

“It is exciting to see so many kids interested in the sport,” he said. “Many of our golfers are brand new to the game or have had little experience. We will be looking to learn the game and grow each golfer individually as far as they can in the season.

“It is a game that teaches humility and patience, and I think if the team works hard at it, we will have a very successful and rewarding season.”

Bauer said the Warriors’ strength lies not only in their numbers but also in their desire to learn.

“They all, I think, want to learn it and want to get better at it, so that’ll help when it does get frustrating and it does get hard,” he said. “Because it’s a hard game, but they all have very good attitudes. They want to get better, but (it’s) just a matter of sticking with it over the course of the year and not giving up on it.”

The Warriors will open the season April 4 at Herington with a 1 p.m. start.
