“With four returning letter winners from last year’s team, the Bluebirds will be looking for to them to bring positive leadership and bring great experience to this season,” seventh-year head coach Curtis Guhr said.

Guhr will lean on senior Zach Zogleman, 5-foot-8-inches, who averaged 1.1 points per game and 1.6 rebounds last season, in addition to three junior players: Dylan Lindeman, 6-3, who averaged 10.2 points per game and 5.4 rebounds; Jerah Schmidt, 5-6, 3.2 points and 1.7 rebounds; and Jacob Hagewood, 5-10, 2.2 points and 1.8 rebounds.

“With losing size and some key scoring to graduation, the Bluebirds will look to their returning starters, players returning from injury, and younger players to play a pivotal part this season,” Guhr said. “Defense will be a key focus for the Bluebirds this season.”

The Bluebirds finished 3-18 overall and 2-8 in the Wheat State League.

They expect major league competition from Elyria and Little River this season.

Goessel will start the season off on Friday, Nov. 30, at home against Inman.
