The Peabody-Burns girls are looking to improve on last season?s 5-16 record with the return of four senior starters.

The Warriors lost in the first round of sub-state last year.

?The core of our team returns this season,? said Darren Schroeder, who returns for his 10th year as head coach. ?We should have plenty of experience and understanding of the program returning.?

Senior Rayna Barnes will anchor the Warriors? inside game, with classmates McKenzie Ensminger, Brandee Burnett and Paige Lewis on the perimeter.

?These four players have played significant minutes since their sophomore year,? Schroeder said. ?They provide great leadership and have a good understanding of what we are trying to accomplish, systematically.?

The Warriors have struggled to score in the past, he said, so they plan to spread the floor on offense and work to eliminate turnovers, which has limited their productivity in the past.

?This is the biggest obstacle we will face as a team,? Schroeder said. ?If we can be consistent each night on the offensive end of the floor, I think our defense will be good enough to make us competitive in the league.?

On defense, the Warriors seek to improve their rebounding and put more pressure on opponents.

?Figuring out the roles of our other players will be a huge focus during the first part of the season,? Schroeder said. ?I think this team has the opportunity to have great chemistry and a willingness to strive to be a competitive team.?

The Warriors are scheduled to begin their season Nov. 30 at Chase County. Tipoff will be at 6 p.m.
