The Cougars graduated eight members of last year?s 12-10 squad, and sixth-year coach Greg Wyatt will have only one returning starter: Dakota Stimpson, a 5-foot, 9-inch senior guard.

Completing Centre?s upperclassmen on the roster are three returning letter-winners: senior forwards Jared Barney (6-0) and Justin Bina (5-10) and junior guard/forward Nathaniel Engler (5-10).

Beyond that, Wyatt will rely on younger players to fill additional voids on the team.

?We have five sophomores and eight freshmen who will have to step up and play a role for us this season,? he said. ?We will be young and inexperienced, but the boys are eager to work hard and improve each and every day.?

Wheat State League teams to watch include Wakefield, Solomon and Little River, Wyatt said.

The Cougars will tip off the season at home Friday against Central Christian.
