Four athletes comprise a young Centre golf team this season.

Junior Nathaniel Engler, who returns for his third year, is the team?s only returning letter-winner.

Junior Whitney Gutsch returns for her second year. Freshmen Bryce Brunner and Wesley Love complete the team.

Coach Greg Wyatt said the team has lost former members to a number of sources, including two to the cooperative baseball team in Marion and two who moved outside of the district. This year?s spring team also has fewer athletes as a result of having eight girls participate in fall golf.

?Typically, we have 16 out for golf, but this year only four for spring golf,? Wyatt said.

Wyatt said he looks forward to the season despite having fewer numbers.

?I think it?s good to get as many kids involved in (extracurricular) activities as possible,? he said.

The Cougars will open the season at Herington Tuesday.
