?We expect good senior leadership and a strong work ethic,? Wiles said, adding that it will be important for the team to develop some depth.

Six returning seniors will provide leadership: Kyle Methvin (6-feet-0, 195), Chad Mueller (5-11, 170), Terren Thompson (5-9, 160), Ty Simons (6-0, 150), Karl Riffel (5-9, 260) and Tanner Peterson (5-10, 175).

Also expected to contribute are juniors Justin Bina (5-10, 165), Dakota Stimpson (5-7, 155) and Conner Montgomery (5-6, 150).

Looking ahead to the season, Wiles said the Cougars are not able to play many league schools because of their district.

?One of our goals is to always have the team be first,? saiid Wiles. He would like the team ?to get a little bit better every day and to have fun doing it.?

The Cougars will open competition at 7 p.m Sept. 6 at Goessel.
