Warriors bring six vets to the court

These returning letter-winners will anchor the Peabody-Burns volleyball team this season: (front row, from left) Breanna Lett, Taylor Wallace; (back row) Tori Pickens, Kayla Page, Sydney Hodges, Lindsey Frye.Six returning letter-winners highlight Peabody-Burns’ 18-person volleyball roster for third-year coach Sheena Gann.

The Warriors return three junior starters from last year’s 6-22 team: right side hitter Tori Pickens, setter Breanna Lett and backrow player Taylor Wallace.

Three additional letter-winners return: the team’s lone senior, middle hitter Kayla Page; junior middle hitter and middle blocker Sydney Hodges; and sophomore setter Lindsey Frye.

A newcomer to watch is freshman hitter Mackenzie Eden.

“We’re still a young team,” Gann said. “I lost four seniors last year, but I’ve been working with my juniors coming up and a couple sophomores, so I feel like we are definitely going to play some better volleyball this year. I’m confident that we will, even losing four of my starters.”
