The Marion cross-country team boasts six returning athletes this year under the guidance of fourth-year coach Rebecca Hofer.

The boys will be led by returning athletes senior Quinton Hett and sophomore Taylor Fahey.

?Quinton is a senior this year and is helping with some leadership,? Hofer said. ?Taylor has also really stepped up and is working really hard.?

Completing the boys? roster are senior Beretta Janzen, junior Cody Shipman and freshman Logan Waner.

?I am hoping that all the boys will come together and push each other to improve,? Hofer said.

The girls? team boasts four returning athletes, making it Hofer?s largest in her career at Marion.

Returning for the Warriors are senior Kaylie Waner, and juniors McKenzee Remmers, Shyla Harris and Brittany Hett.

Completing the girls? squad are sophomores Sam Fugitt, Rune Hagemeister, Kaitlyn Goebel and Emily Hague, and freshman Meggan Freese.

?I am excited to see what they can do,? Hofer said.

Her goals for the season include making cross-country fun as well as increasing team bonding.

?We have many runners who are new to the sport, and I want them to enjoy it,? she said. ?I, of course, plan on challenging them and pushing them to improve. But running is fun, and I want to make it so for them.?

The Warriors will open the season Thursday at Abilene with a 4 p.m. start. Marion will compete at home Sept. 25.
