Goessel returns after state-runner up season

“We will look somewhat new this season, despite returning five seniors,” head coach Crysta Guhr said. “After playing smaller roles in the past years, this year’s seniors look to take on new and bigger roles on the court and in leadership.”

Those seniors are Savanna Wuest (2A State All-Tournament team selection), Cierra Nolte, Stephany Meyer, Madison Smith, and Audessi Unruh.

It can’t just be those seniors, though, as growth from the younger, inexperienced players will be key for the Bluebirds to excel this season.

Goessel will fight to win another Wheat State League Championship again this season, but there will be tough competition from Rural Vista, Little River, and Herington.

Goessel will open up the season at a quad on Tuesday, Aug. 28, against Ell-Saline, Haven and Herington.
