Centre volleyball scrappy, coming to compete

With mostly juniors and sophomores comprising the team, and a lack of height, the Centre volleyball team will have some challenges, but head coach Karen Nickel thinks they are going to have a good team anyway.

“We are a scrappy team that will come out to play,” she said. “Our girls are still considered young, but we have lots of experience playing together as a team. We lack height, but our girls can jump.”

Returning for Centre will be sophomores Alyssa Espinoza (setter, middle hitter/blocker), Samantha Espinoza (middle hitter/back row), Cailey Barney (left front hitter), and Emily Silhan (setter), and juniors Emma David (right front hitter) and Gracie Luna (right front hitter).

Centre opens with a triangular match at home on Tuesday, Aug. 28, hosting Inman and Canton-Galva at 4 p.m.
