MHS volleyball 2nd at Belle Plaine

With four wins and one loss, the Marion volleyball team claimed second place at the Belle Plaine round robin tournament Saturday.

Marion defeated Attica (25-18, 25-22), Belle Plaine (25-19, 25-14), Medicine Lodge (25-15, 25-9) and South Barber (25-13, 25-6). Wichita Trinity handed the Warriors? their only loss of the day (25-11, 25-21).

?We have a hard time rising up to where our true competitive level is at, and we tend to stick to a lesser level that matches our opponents,? coach Brady Hudson said. ?While we did get second at the Belle Plaine tournament, the girls and I are not too pleased with that placing. They did play well, but not well enough to have a fighting chance against some of the teams in our sub-state. Hopefully we can get out of our funk and consistently play our game.?

Inman?Marion split two games Tuesday. Remington defeated the Warriors (25-16, 25-18), then Marion responded with a 2-0 victory over the host school (25-21, 25-18).

Coming?Marion (21-5) was scheduled to compete at Ell-Saline Tuesday and will host a quad Oct. 14 on senior night.
