Despite cold and wet weather, the Marion cross country team earned four medals at Halstead Thursday.
?The weather at Halstead started out really nasty,? coach Rebecca Hofer said. ?The wind was cold, and the rain made everything miserable. Thankfully, however, the rain stopped quickly, and the sun tried its best to shine.?
The girls were led by McKenzee Remmers, who finished eighth in 17 minutes, 1.50 seconds. Meggan Freese was 29th (18:30.74), Emily Hague 37th (18:58.29), Kaylie Waner 54th (22:04.76) and Rune Hagemeister 55th (22:13.86).
For the boys, Logan Waner was the first Warrior to finish the course, placing 58th in 21:30.04. Taylor Fahey recorded a personal-best 21:37.08, good for 60th place. Quinton Hett was 66th (22:41.99).
In the junior varsity girls? race, Shyla Harris placed 21st (22:19.87), Sam Fugitt 24th (22:37.05) and Brittany Hett 25th (22:52.84).
Runners in the top 25 of their respective races medalled.
Coming?Marion was scheduled to compete at Eureka Tuesday in the Warriors? last meet of the regular season. The Heart of America league meet will take place at Remington Oct. 16.
