Lackey named MIAA Freshman of the Year

Addie Lackey, a 2014 graduate of Hillsboro High School now playing for Emporia State University, recently was named Fresh?man of the Year in the MIAA.

Lackey, who averaged just over 30 minutes per game, is leading the MIAA in three-point field goal percentage (.451) this year, is ninth in the league in assists (3 per game) and 14th in made three-pointers (41).

She is the only freshman ranked in the top 15 of three different statistical categories.

Lackey has scored 291 points (10 per game) to rank 11th on the Lady Hornets all-time freshman scoring list and is eighth since Emporia State joined the MIAA. Her 85 assists rank her fifth among freshmen since the Lady Hornets joined the MIAA.

Lackey is the sixth Lady Hornet to earn MIAA Fresh?man of the Year honors.

Emporia State, which completed the regular season with a 22-4 record and was 15-4 in the MIAA, won the conference tournament this weekend and will be playing in the NCAA Div. II national tournament.
