Jays score last-second goal on Friends

Having lost to Kansas Wesleyan earlier in the week, the Tabor College women?s soccer team defeated Friends in dramatic fashion Saturday, 2-1.

The game was tied at 1 most of the game after Friends scored in the 35th minute, and Katie Traudt answered with a Bluejay goal six minutes later.

With just 15 seconds left in the game, Hannah Simmons scored the winning goal off an assist by Ashtyn Stephens.

Both teams took eight shots. Friends had six shots-on-goal, compared with four for Tabor. Goalkeeper Kalee Cross had five saves.

Kansas Wesleyan?Tabor lost 2-0 Tuesday to a squad receiving votes in the NAIA Top 25 poll.

Kansas Wesleyan outshot Tabor 27-2, including 11-2 shots-on-goal. Goalkeeper Kalee Cross had eight saves.

Coming?Tabor (3-1-1, 9-3-2) will host McPherson (2-3, 4-9-1) tonight at 5 p.m. and travels to Bethany (1-2-2, 3-9-2) Saturday at 5 p.m.
