Hillsboro, Marion players named to district football teams

Congratulations to the 2A All-District No. 5 2020 Football nominations. Multiple Hillsboro and Marion athletes were awarded the following honors.

First Team Offense and Defense

Senior Austin Rempel, Hillsboro, was voted unanimously for both defensive line and offensive line. Also unanimously voted was defensive back, junior, Matthew Potucek of Hillsboro. The other Hillsboro athletes were junior Tristan Rathbone, linebacker, and senior Dillon Boldt, wide receiver.

For Marion, the athletes were senior Todd Palic, for both linebacker and offensive lineman and sophomore Ian Ingels at tight end.

Second Team Offense and Defense

The Hillsboro athletes were juniors Matthew Potucek, quarterback, Nate Hein, running back, Duncan Duell, tight end, Frank Wichert, for both wide receiver and defensive back and Garrett Helmer, linebacker. The Hillsboro seniors were Cole Kaufman, defensive line, and Dillon Boldt for both defensive back and kicker.

The Marion athletes named were seniors Jake Hess, defensive lineman, Braedon Mercer, running back, Seth Lanning, defensive back and Will Alleven, wide receiver.

Honorable Mention Offense and Defense

The Hillsboro athletes given honorable mention were juniors Jamari Harris, running back and Nate Hein, kick return. The Marion athletes were seniors Braedon Mercer, for both linebacker and kick return and Seth Lanning, quarterback.

The district finishes were as follows:

Hillsboro 4-1

Haven 4-1

Marion 2-3

Sterling 1-5

Lyons 0-5
