Hillsboro golfers struggle at league

Hillsboro?s young and inexperienced golf team struggled to a 10th-place finish in the 10-team Central Kansas League golf tournament May 12 at Sterling.

The host team won the title with a score of 306 to finish ahead of second-place Halstead at 345 and third-place Hesston at 349. Hills?boro?s team score was 398.

Freshman Elliot Ollen?burger turned in the best performance for the Trojans, carding a 95 over 18 holes. Classmate Elias Werth was right behind him with a 96. The pair placed 32nd and 34th, respectively, in a field of 55 golfers.

Also competing were Phillip Ediger, who placed 38th with a 100, Colin Settler, who was 47th at 107, and Alex Dalke, who finished 50th with 109.

Coming?Hillsboro was scheduled to compete Mon?day at the Class 3A regional tournament at the Sterling course. Results were not available in time for this issue.
