Warriors track down medals at Halstead Invitational

The Marion track team competed at the Halstead Invitational Friday, bringing home 14 medals. Marion hosted a CKTL meet April 17, with the boys? taking silver with 112 points and the girls coming in third with 42 points. Further results were not available for that meet.

Halstead?Marion put together great performances at the Halstead Invitational Friday, helping the girls? team earn 68 points for second place and the boys? team claim third with 66 points.

Corey Shields led the girls in the throwing events, taking second in the shot put with a toss of 34 feet, 2.25 inches.

In the jumps, Whitney Gordon and Kadecha Gueary placed second in the high jump (4-10) and long jump (15-9.5), respectively.

Taking bronze was Shields in the javelin (105-08), Gueary in the triple jump (31-9.25) and Kelli Hess in the pole vault (7-06).

Gordon also took third in the 100-meter hurdles in 16.94 seconds.

For the boys? team, Jordan Hett claimed gold in the 3200 in 10:27.

Earning second was Dakin Ledford in the javelin (167-05) and Hett in the 1600 (4:51).

The 4×400 relay team of Patrick McCarty, Brody Carroll, James Jones and Colten Johnson also took silver (3:35.79).

Coming in third was Ledford in the discus (129-09) and Johnson in the pole vault (13-0) and 300 hurdles (41.84).

Marion CKTL ?The Warriors hosted a CKTL quint meet April 17, where the boys? team took second with 112 points and the girls? team came in third with 42 points.

Corey Shields won two golds for the girls in the shot put (34-33?4) and discus (98-08), adding a silver in the javelin (96-71?2).

Alicia Maloney took second in the pole vault (8-6) and Kadesha Gueary earned two bronze medals in the long jump (14-5) and triple jump (30-21?2).

Zach Hammond won the high jump (5-4), triple jump (37-5) and pole vault (12-6) for the boys.

The Warriors also reigned in the throwing events, with Nick Meyer winning the shot put (39-0.75) and going 1-2-3 in the discus (130-5) with Spencer Fugitt (127-10) and Dakin Ledford (125-2). Ledford won the javelin (158-2) and Fugitt took silver (138-4).

Lance Knolla took second in the long jump (17-4.25), and Fugitt and Tyler Neufeld placed third in the high jump (5-0) and pole vault (10-0).

Coming ?The Warriors were scheduled to compete at the Berean Academy CKTL meet April 24 at Marion, before traveling to Beloit Friday.
