Marion? The Warriors split two games at home Tuesday on senior night.
Marion opened with a two-set, 25-17, 25-20, win over Inman.
?We came out flat that game,? coach Deanna Thierolf said. ?Maybe we were kind of looking past it. I hope we weren?t, but I just didn?t feel like we took care of business as quickly as we probably should have. But a win is a win.?
The Warriors faced Remington, the 10th-ranked team in Class 3A.
Set 1 began with a back-and-forth battle. Marion drew within 10-9 after a Katey Ehrlich kill. But Remington surged with a 7-2 run for a 17-11 lead and went on to win, 25-19.
Remington claimed an early 4-0 lead in Set 2, but the Warriors attacked the net to even the score at 10. A Julia Hall block later tied it, 14-14.
The Broncos surged to a 22-14 lead, and although Marion battled to within 24-22, Remington won, 25-22.
?I?m proud of (the girls),? Thierolf said. ?They fought hard, and Remington (is) a good team.
?Serve-receive got us,? she added. ?There were about four serves in a row that we just shot ourselves in the foot. When we play good teams, we?ve got to be clean on our passes, and we just weren?t tonight.?
Coming? The Warriors were scheduled to compete at Berean Academy Tuesday and at Peabody-Burns Oct. 15.
