Warriors grapple first at Onaga

The Marion High School wrestlers won the Onaga Dual tournament with a 5-0 record, placing eight individuals either first or second.

The Warriors crushed Rock Creek 48-11 in team scoring, with 6-3 record on the mat and three more by default.

Marion handled Horton 54-25 and scoring in a similar fashion, posting a 6-3 record in its decisions and adding three defaults.

Marion posted a 42-31 win over Burlington. The Warriors went 8-4 on the mat to overcome default losses in the 103- and 285-pound weight classes.

The Warriors posted an identical score, 42-31, against Onaga. Marion went 3-5 on the mat and defeated the hosts by virtue of team depth, with four default wins. Marion trounced Pleasant Ridge with an 8-4 record in decisions providing a 45-28 margin of victory.

Charlie Holub (145 pounds), Dillon Wildin (135) and Adam Regnier (130) each earned first place individual honors by posting a 5-0 record at the event.

Marion?s second-place medalists were Randy Regnier (112), Andy Shipman (119), Cody Wildin (125), Tylor Neil (140) and Derek Riggs (215).

Coming?Marion hosts its senior night double dual Thursday, against Haven and Lyons. Marion then wraps up its regular season slate at Chase County Saturday.
