Warriors, Eagles have 13 HOA baseball picks

The Marion and Canton-Galva baseball teams combined for 13 selections to the 2014 Heart of America baseball all-league teams.


All nine of the Marion starters received recognition from HOA coaches. In addition, four Warriors earned all-state recognition from the Kansas Association of Base?ball Coaches.

Senior first baseman Taylor Heidebrecht was a first-team all-state selection as well as a first-team all-HOA pick. He batted .583 with 42 hits and 24 runs batted in. He hit 17 doubles.

Senior outfielder Grif Case also received first-team all-state and all-league honors. He hit .469 with 30 hits, including 10 doubles and three home runs, while driving in 29 runs.

Junior pitcher Bret Voth earned second-team all-state honors and was a first-team all-league selection. He was 6-0 this season with an earned-run average of 0.55. Over 38 innings pitched, he gave up six runs (three earned) and struck out 31 batters. At the plate, he batted .373 with 22 hits and 17 RBIs.

Senior second baseman Zach Robson earned recognition as a second-team all-state pick and first-team all-league selection. He batted .410 with 25 hits and drove in 14 runs.

Senior catcher Caleb Williams was a first-team all-league pick. He batted .254 with 15 hits and 12 RBIs.

Four Warriors received second-team all-league recognition.

Senior pitcher Luke Steele went 5-0 with an ERA of 2.04. He struck out 26 batters. At the plate, he batted .306 with 19 hits and 25 RBIs.

Senior shortstop Dylan Seacat batted .413 with 26 hits and 26 RBIs.

Senior outfielder Zac Lewman batted .319 with 22 hits and 20 RBIs.

Junior utility Jacob Baldwin was a second-team pick. He finished the season with a .321 batting average with 18 hits and 25 RBIs.


Four Eagles received recognition from HOA coaches with second-team selections and one with honorable mention.

Junior catcher Tanner Klingensmith was a second-team selection. He led the team in batting at .415 with 17 hits and 15 RBIs.

Sophomore outfielder Ethan Loyd batted .341 with 15 hits and nine RBIs.

Junior designated hitter Connor Farnham batted .393 and led the team with 24 hits, including five doubles and one triple. He drove in 11 runs.

Junior first baseman Nick Bray received honorable mention. He batted .333 with 15 hits and 10 RBIs.
