Warrior wrestlers first at Chase County

The Marion wrestling team won the Chase County tournament Saturday with 167 points. Mulvane was second with 134 and Wellsville third at 124.

?The guys wrestled very well,? coach Chad Adkins said. ?We are looking forward to regionals this weekend.?

Adam Janzen and Kyle Palic led Marion by going undefeated and winning in their respective weight classes.

Janzen went 4-0 at 170 pounds and pinned each of his opponents: Lincoln?s Randall Martin, Pleasant Ridge?s Dustin Graham, Chase County?s Gabe Dorsey, and El Dorado?s Austin Powell.

Palic went 3-0 at 220. He pinned Logan McKinney of Pleasant Ridge and won by a 5-1 decision over Kasey Feyh of Wamego.

Four Warriors placed second: Remington Putter (3-1, 145), Luke Steele (3-1, 160), Zac Lewman (2-1, 182), and John Nordquist (2-1, 195).

Four Marion wrestlers finished fourth: Jarrett Johnson (2-2, 106), Bryce Shults (2-2, 120), Zac Dvorak (3-2, 160) and Dylan Cochran (1-3, 285).

Completing the Warrior lineup with 1-2 records were: AJ Cogdill (106), Noah Albin (113) and Ezra Darnall (126).

Coming?Marion will compete at regionals Friday and Saturday at Douglass.
