Warrior volleyball fourth at league tourney

The Marion volleyball team took fourth overall in the Heart of America league tournament Saturday with a 1-3 record.

That gives them a 13-20 final season record, 4-5 in the league.

Marion lost to Sedgwick, 25-21, 13-25, 19-25, before defeating Bennington, 19-25, 25-22, 25-19. They then lost to Hutch Trinity, 21-25, 18-25, and again to Sedgwick, 23-25, 13-25.

Whitney Gordon recorded 27 kills for the day, 15 of which came in the Bennington match.

Annie Whitaker contributed 10 kills and Briana Hall added eight to lead the Marion attack. Gordon also led the defensive effort with 26 digs.

Gordon has a team-high 200 kills, 160 digs and 42 solo blocks for the Warriors so far this season.

Coming?The Warriors are scheduled for sub-state competition on their home court Saturday.
