Warrior golf opens its season at Herington

The Marion/Peabody-Burns golf team teed off its season April 3 at Herington.

Rowen Fey led the team with an 18-hole score of 128, good for 28th among a field of 44 golfers. Max Caldwell shot a 131 (29th), Tabor Workman 140 (35th), Hap Wadel 146 (40th) and Chris­tian Becker 163 (43rd).

As a team, Marion finished eighth with a score of 545. Halstead won with 391.

“It was very tough conditions to start the season with cold, cold weather and high winds,” coach Scott Bauer said. “It gives us as a team an idea of where we are at and allows us to start setting goals for the season. (For) most of these golfers it was their first meet and a new experience.”

Coming—The Warriors were scheduled to compete at Hutchinson on Monday and will travel to Remington April 20.
