Warrior girls win over Bluestem

The Marion girls’ basketball team defeated Bluestem, 39-35, Friday as part of the HOA-CPL challenge, improving to 4-1 on the season.

The Warriors took an 11-8 lead after the first quarter of play, and led, 20-18, at halftime.

Marion outscored Bluestem, 7-2 in the third quarter to lead, 27-20 at the final break, and the Warriors went on to win by four.

Kourtney Hansen and Sam Richmond shared top scoring honors with eight points each. Hansen recorded 13 rebounds.

The Marion boys’ game with Belle Plaine scheduled for Saturday was cancelled because of weather. No make up date has yet been set. The boys are 2-2 on the season.

Coming—Marion was scheduled to host Hillsboro Tuesday to conclude pre-holiday play. The Warriors will resume competition by hosting Ell-Saline Jan. 6.
