Victory eludes Warrior girls

The Marion girls lost to Sterling on Tuesday, 53-47.

?This is a game we should have won,? coach Randy Savage said. ?We played well enough to win for three quarters, but we gave it away at the end.?

The Warriors carried a 36-32 lead into the fourth quarter, extended it to a 9-point advantage, but ?folded down the stretch,? according to Savage.

?We took bad shots, shots that were out of the flow of the offense and out of rhythm, and we made some bad passes after Sterling tied it up,? Savage said.

?The main thing is, we have to box out, and we have to avoid unforced turnovers,? he added. ?I hope this loss is one we can learn a lot from.?

Lindsay Hett led the Warriors with 14 points and Julia Zeiner scored 12.

Coming?Marion (1-4) opens 2008 with a home contest against Ellinwood (1-1) Jan. 4. The rescheduled home game against Lyons (1-4) will be played Jan. 5.
