Unruh selected for all-star game

Travis Unruh

Travis Unruh, a 2016 graduate of Canton-Galva High School, has been selected to participate in an 8-Man All-Star football game Saturday in Beloit with the Division I West team. Game time is set for 10 a.m. Unruh was the Eagles’ rushing and passing leader last year, tallying 330 yards on the ground and scoring five touchdowns, and throwing for 230 yards and one touchdown. As a result of a shoulder injury sustained in Week 2, Unruh missed one week of action, then switched from quarterback to running back/wide receiver on offense and from linebacker to defensive back on defense. He hauled in 16 catches for 198 yards, and recorded 75 tackles and one interception. Unruh also served as the Eagles’ long-snapper and kicker. Unruh received first-team all-district honors this year and was a two-time first-team all-league recipient in the Heart of America league. The son of Delton and Denise Unruh, he plans to attend the University of Kansas, where he would like to walk-on to the football team.
