NICKERSON- The Hillsboro boys took second out of 10 teams in the CKL League meet on Thursday. The girls placed sixth out of 9 teams.
For the boys, Caleb Diener took third in the 1600 meter run. Tristan Reed also placed third in the 3200 meter run.Nate Hein came in at second for the pole vault at 12-01.00. Josiah Driggers secured second in the triple jump with a distance of 43-00.50. Wes Shaw took first for both shot put and discus throw.
For the girls, Kinsey Kleiner placed first in long jump at 15-05.25. Sammie Saunders took third in the triple jump with a distance of 31-01.00. Jessica Saunders got first in discus and second in shot put. Addie Berens placed second in the javelin throw.
“Despite the cool weather, we had a good showing at the League Track Meet. The boys finished 2nd in the team standings which is quite an accomplishment being the smallest school in our league,” said Coach Dennis Boldt. “Wes Shaw finished the day with two league championships and two new league records in the shot and discus.”
Coming- The team looks forward to the Regional meet at Marion this coming Friday.
