Trojan track earns two golds at Hesston

The Hillsboro track and field team managed four top-three finishes Thursday at the Hesston Invitational.

Joel Allen was part of three of them, winning the 3,200 meters in 10 minutes, 15 seconds, placing second in the 1,600 in 4:40 and running the first leg for the second-place 4×800 team with teammates Justin King, Josh Richert and Bret Mueller in 8:43.

Callie Serene won the 800 in 2:26 for the girls.

As a team, the boys placed eighth with 37 points, trailing first-place Hesston with 103 in the 11-school field.

The Trojan girls scored 181?2 points to place ninth. The Hesston girls won the title with 105 points.

Coming?Hillsboro will host the first Central Kansas League meet Thursday at Joel H. Wiens Sadium. Events begin at 2 p.m.
