Trojan golf ninth at Black Bear Invitational at Sterling

Devin Dick placed ninth at the Black Bear Invitational at Sterling April 16 and sixth at the Hesston Invitational three days later to pace the Hillsboro golf team last Week.

Dick carded an 87 at Sterling, combining with Evan Ollen?burger (96), Kyler Borg (91) and Casie Allen (128) for a team score of 402.

At Hesston, Dick recorded a 90 to go with Ollenburger (99), Borg (99) and Allen (116) for a 404 team score.

?We are still not quite where I hoped and expected us to be at this point,? coach Scott O?Hare said. ?Although I still feel like all of these guys are showing some good things and definitely improving in their golf game, they have still not shown the ability to transfer their ability to competition.

?Even though ball-striking has improved for all of them, they all still have a level of inconsistency that gets them in trouble. The scores are still up there because they haven?t learned how to recover from that, physically or mentally.?

Coming? The Trojans will compete Friday at the Sacred Heart Invitational in Salina. The event begins at 9 a.m.

Next Tuesday, Hills?boro and Marion will host the 36-hole Marion County Invitational at the two city courses. The teams will be divided into two groups. Each group will start at one of the courses in the morning, then switch to the other in the afternoon.
