Cody McMillen was a double gold winner in the individual events, taking the 1,600 meters in 4 minutes 37.68 seconds and the 3,200 in 10:22.28.
?Cody was finally pushed today in the 1,600 and this is going to pay great dividends as we near the end of our season,? coach Dennis Boldt said.
Hillsboro?s only other gold came in the 4×800, where the team of Nick Mueller, Matthew Klenda, McMillen and Nathan Vogel crossed in 8:22.19.
Meanwhile, Garden Plain finished just ahead of the Trojans for a 1-2 finish. Jacob Yoder finished in the runner-up spot twice, to Logan Dold in the 100 meters (11.15 seconds to 10.86) and to Kurt Pauly (22.76 to 22.65) in the 200. Pauly also edged Vogel in the 400 meters (50.30 to 51.87).
Yoder?s 200-meter time, rounded to 22.8, tied the school record set by his brother Alan in 2003.
The Owls also won the head-to-head match with Trojan 4×100 team of Grant Schneider, Ishmael Morris, Spencer Brown and Yoder (43.19 to 44.33) and the 4×400 team of Yoder, Brown, McMillen and Vogel (3:28.85 to 3:30.58).

?Many of the teams will be in our upcoming 3A regional and this gave us an opportunity to see the competition in first hand.?
Hillsboro?s Dakota Kaufman brought home the Trojans? only gold medal, setting a meet record in the triple jump at 36 feet, 3 inches. Kauf?man also posted Hillsboro?s next-best finish by placing third in the long jump (16-2), 91⁄2 inches behind the winner, Julia Zeiner of Marion.
Coming?Hillsboro will travel to Lindsborg on Friday for the Mid-Central Activities Associ?a?tion league track meet. Events begin at 2 p.m.
