With favorable conditions for a long run last Thursday at Clearwater, the Peabody-Burns boys, for the most part, ran the longer 5-kilometer course.
?It was a cool day so we decided most of the Jr. and Sr. boys would run the 5K to see where they were at that distance,? coach Kim Topham said.
Aaron Topham took first place in the boys race with a time of 17 minutes, 42 seconds.
?Aaron ran away from the field at the mile and three quarters mark and didn?t slow his pace,? she said.
He was followed by Sheldon Wiebe (25th, 19:16), Josh Klarmann (31st, 19:30) and Jacob Simmonds (33rd, 19:36).
Steffen Pospeich (11th, 12:33) ran the upperclassmen 2-mile race. Zach Preheim (47th, 13:59) and Seth Topham (53rd, 14:10) ran the underclassmen 2-mile race.
Lauren Pickens placed 11th with a time of 14:44 in the girls 2-mile and, according to Topham, ?will be ready for the 4K next week in Hesston.?
Beatrice Calderera (68th, 19:44), Heather Brooks (71st, 20:56), and Amanda Pickens (74th, 17:49) also ran the girls 2-mile.
Peabody-Burns? next meet is Thursday afternoon at Hesston.
