Three HWC wrestlers in top five at state tourney

Three members of the Hillsboro Wrestling Club finished among the top five in their respective divisions at the USA Wrest­ling Kansas Folkstyle State Champion­ships Saturday and Sun­day at the Topeka Expocentre.

Camden Padgett placed second in the 12 & Under, 84 pounds division with a 3-1 record. Sutton Redger placed third in the 8 & Under, 110 pounds division with a 5-1 mark. Connor Padgett placed fifth in the 12 & Under, 110 pounds with a 4-2 record.

Also competing but not placing were Travis King, who went 1-2 in the High School division, 145 pounds.

Tristan Rathbone went 0-2 in the 12 & Under, 120 pounds division.

“We are very proud of the hard work, commitment, dedication and efforts of these boys and young men, over the weekend and throughout the entire season,” said Scott O’Hare, HWC director.

“I would like to thank all of the Hillsboro Wrestling Club parents for their amazing support and involvement throughout the year, and especially thank the men who volunteer their time to help coach these wrestlers all season.”
