Remmers leads MHS to fourth place

 

McKenzee Remmers led the Marion girls? cross-country team to a fourth-place finish Tuesday at the Warriors? home meet.

Remmers finished the 4-kilometer race in 16 minutes, 23.22 seconds, tying her personal record and earning her second place.

Meggan Freese finished 13th (17:48.35, personal best), Emily Hague 17th (18:16.76), Kaylie Waner 41st (22:18.60) and Shyla Harris 42nd (22:21.80).

Leading the boys was Logan Waner in a personal-best 21:26.85, good for 30th. Taylor Fahey was 41st (22:26.10) and Quinton Hett 45th (22:43.48).

In junior varsity races, Rune Hagemeister placed eighth in a personal-best 21:48.67; Brittany Hett was 11th (23:28.87) and Kaitlyn Goebel 12th (23:36.47).

?It was another great day for a race, although the southern wind made the down-and-backs on the course interesting and sometimes challenging,? coach Rebecca Hofer said. ?Overall, I thought that it was a very successful day.?

Coming?Marion will compete at Halstead Thursday. The varsity girls? race is scheduled for 4:30 p.m. and boys will race at 4:50 p.m.

Junior varsity races will follow at 5:30 p.m. (girls)?and 5:50 p.m. (boys).
