Remmers leads Marion runners

McKenzee Remmers runs to fifth in the junior girls? 4-k race in a personal-best time of 16:23.

The Marion cross country team participated in the all-class Swather Special at Hesston Thursday.

?The temperature was completely opposite from last week,??coach Rebecca Hofer said. ?It was cool, cloudy, and wonderful, and the team ran great. I am a very happy coach.?

Three Warrior girls medalled by placing in the top 20 in the Class 3-2-1A division. McKenzee Remmers paved the way for the girls with a fifth-place finish in the junior girls? 4-k race, setting a new personal record with a time of 16 minutes, 23 seconds. Meggan Freese placed ninth in the freshmen girls? race in 18:10, while Emily Hague finished the sophomore girls? race in 12th place (17:50).

Rounding out the girls? team in their respective races were Shyla Harris (43rd, 23:38); Brittany Hett (45th, 24:29); Sam Fugitt (34th, 22:12); Rune Hagemeister (35th, 23:15); and Kaitlyn Goebel (36th, 23:27).

For the boys? Taylor Fahey and Quinton Hett each placed 29th in their respective races, Fahey in the sophomore boys? race (21:54) and Hett in the senior boys? race (21:38).

Coming?Marion will compete at Herington Thursday. Action is set to begin at 4 p.m. The field includes Berean Academy, Canton-Galva, Centre, Halstead, Haven, Hesston, Marion, Remington and Sedgwick.
