The Peabody-Burns volleyball team features 17 athletes on its 2016 roster. Led by second-year coach Sheena Gann, the Warriors will seek to build on last year’s 9-23 season.
The Warriors return three athletes with starting experience this season: seniors Anna Lubbers (hitter), Mallory Harris (setter) and Raegan Schreiber (hitter).
Five additional letter-winners return: senior Samantha Frye, and sophomores Tori Pickens, Breanna Lett, Sydney Hodges and Taylor Wallace.
A newcomer to watch is freshman setter Lindsey Frye.
Although the Warriors will play without Katy Benson this season, Gann expressed confidence in what her team will bring to the court.
“We’ve got six girls that have all played together and are veterans in some form,” Gann said. “We lost an amazing senior last year, but our talent coming up reassures me that we’re going to be fine. We’re going to have a great season.”
Peabody-Burns hosted a tournament last weekend to kick off the season. The Warriors will travel to Goessel Tuesday.
