Cody Partridge earned two medals to cap his senior career, including the gold medal in the long jump with a leap of 21 feet, 41⁄2 inches. He edged second place by a quarter of an inch, attaining that distance on his final attempt. Partridge also earned the fifth-place medal in the high jump (6-2). He scored all 14 of the Warriors’ points, putting Peabody-Burns in a three-way tie for 18th as a team.
“One of (Cody’s) goals was to win state long jump,” coach Kim Topham said. “He never lost sight of that goal. It is very exciting that he got to accomplish it. (Cody) is a great competitor and was a good senior leader for the team.”
Junior Andrew Wedel placed 12th in the shot put (41-101⁄2), while Austin Reynolds, also a junior, finished 15th in the 110-meter hurdle preliminaries (18.10). The top eight places qualified for finals.
