Ollenburger leads Hillsboro golf team

Evan Ollenburger placed 19th among 63 golfers at the 36-hole Marion County Invitational with a score of 173.Evan Ollenburger led the three-member Hillsboro golf team by placing 19th among 63 golfers Friday at the 36-hole Marion County Invita?tional.

The Trojan senior recorded a total score of 173, which placed him 22 strokes behind the individual winner, Chase Coble of South?ern Lyon County at 151.

The top 15 finishers medaled.

The unique tournament had the 12 schools form two pools. One pool played 18 holes in the morning at Marion and the other pool at Hillsboro. In the afternoon, the pools switched courses.

Ollenburger carded an 85 at Hillsboro and 88 at Marion.

Teammate Phillip Ediger shot a 92 at Hillsboro and 98 at Marion for an overall score of 190, which placed him 37th.

Alex Dalke shot a 113 at Hillsboro and 125 at Marion for a 36-hole score of 238, which placed him 60th.

Sterling won the team title with a total score of 636, 12 strokes better than runner-up Andale.

Halstead?Two of Hills?boro?s three golfers earned medals at the Halstead Invitational May 6.

Evan Ollenburger shot an 89 over 18 holes to place seventh while teammate Philip Ediger finished one stroke behind him to place ninth among 42 golfers.

Alex Dalke shot a 112 to place 32nd.

Nathan Gamache of Halstead won the top medalist with a score of 80.

Coming?The Trojans were schedule to compete at the Central Kansas League meet Tuesday in Hillsboro, then will compete in the Class 2A regional tournament next Monday at the Belleville Country Club.

Joining Hillsboro and Republic County in the regional field are Benning?ton, Brookville, Ell-Saline, Herington, Inman, Onaga, Peabody-Burns, Remington, Wakefield and Washington County.
