N?Heights edges Centre

The Centre High School boys basketball team fell to 0-3 for the season with losses to Northern Heights, 58-53, and Herington, 71-41. Trevor Troutt posted 18 points against Northern Heights and 10 more against Herington, with the tournament finale rescheduled for Dec. 17 due to last week?s winter weather.

Coach Gregg Wyatt noted that Centre ?played really well? for three quarters against Northern Heights, but allowed 29 points in the fourth by getting ?caught up in playing their fast pace reckless abandon game…We have to finish teams off when we have them down,?

The Centre girls team lost to Northern Heights 51-40, but the score was dead even through two quarters Thursday. The Cougars were done in by a 13-5 third quarter. Shelby Deines scored a team-high 14 points. Behind 25 points from Deines, the Cougars rocked Herington 46-33 the next night.

Centre visited White City Tuesday, then will finish off the tournament Thursday, then will wrap up 2009 at Wakefield.
