Despite having the home-field advantage, the Marion softball team came up short Monday night in their Class 3A Regional Softball quarterfinal contest against Riley County.

The Warriors entered the tournament as the No. 3 seed at 8-8, but fell 11-0 in five innings to No. 6 Riley County (7-11) to end post-season play.

Riley County had accumulated three runs by the second inning, and a five-run third inning pushed the lead to 8-0.

Neither team scored in the fourth inning, but Riley County added three additional runs in the fifth inning to cause the run-rule victory.

Additional statistical information was not available at press time.

Halstead? The Warriors did not play at Halstead Tuesday as anticipated because of a contract mixup, athletic director Grant Thierolf said.
